How much microclover
seed do you need?

Use your measured area and the seeding rate on the seed bag. Different products and planting methods call for different rates.

Measure each section of your lawn and add the areas together. For a rectangle, multiply length by width. Enter the bag's rate for the same planting method you plan to use.

The rate must come from your product label. Pure seed and seed blends can have very different rates.

How to measure an irregular lawn

Break the lawn into simple rectangles or triangles. Calculate each area, then add them. Subtract patios, beds, and other places you will not seed. A rough measurement is more useful than guessing from a photo.

Which rate belongs in the calculator?

Use the manufacturer's rate for your exact bag and project: new lawn, overseeding, or bare-patch repair. The numbers can differ greatly between pure clover and a grass blend. We leave the rate blank on purpose so the result reflects your actual seed.

What to do with the result

Compare the result with available package sizes and the seller's stated coverage. Check the label for germination and test date. Then use the planting guide to plan soil preparation and establishment.
